LOREN ABBOTT

JACKSON, Mo. -- Loren W. Abbott, 85, of Jackson died Friday, March 30, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 16, 1916, at Cape Girardeau County, son of Charles W. and Sally E. Phelps. He and Ruby Mangels were married July 9, 1938, at Poplar Bluff, Mo. She died Jan. 8, 1994.

Abbott was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 158 in Jackson and the VFW. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He had retired from Ceramo Co. in Jackson in 1983, and he had also worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill.

Survivors include a brother, Lloyd Abbott of Marble Hill.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with a military honor guard service.
