MOUNDS, Ill. -- Lora Hargan, 97, of Mounds died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.
She was born Sept. 17, 1903, at Tunnel Hill, Ill., daughter of William Robert and Etta Wright Johnson. She and Loal A. Hargan were married in 1926 in Pulaski County, Ill. He died Dec. 10, 1979.
Hargan was a 1924 graduate and valedictorian of Mounds Township School.
She taught at Perks Grade School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mounds and was a Sunday School teacher for the adult class, and was a member of Homebureau Extension in Villa Ridge, Ill.
Survivors include four sons, Harold Hargan of Mounds, Wayne Hargan of Johnston City, Ill., Robert Hargan of Nashville, Ill., Virgil Hargan of Metropolis, Ill.; a daughter, LaVerne Brown of Benton, Ky.; a brother, James "Jimmy" Johnson of Mounds; a sister, Mildred Peeler of Anna, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, three sisters, five brothers and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
