Loonie Charles Pruitt, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born July 31, 1915, at Whitewater, son of Loonie H. and Effie Snider Pruitt. He and Lillian Ford were married in 1935 at Whitewater. She preceded him in death May 6, 1997.
Pruitt had farmed at Whitewater, owned an IGA store in Chaffee, and retired as an auditor with Kroger stores in St. Louis. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, and Whitewater Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Pruitt of Jackson, Billy Pruitt of Gerald; two sisters, Allene Klittich and Bernice Pruitt of St. Louis; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, and a grandson.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Park Lawn Cemetery in St. Louis.
