Lois Delilah Busche Wessell, 94, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Friendship Village in Chesterfield, Missouri.
She was born March 26, 1924, in Cape Girardeau to Henry L. and Ella A. Hoffman Busche. She and Marvin Wessell were married May 2, 1947, in Cape Girardeau.
She was a Cape Girardeau Central High graduate. After high school, Lois accepted a job at the telephone company. She was a proud member of the Entre Nous Club. Later, she worked as a cashier at A&P and Kroger in Cape Girardeau.
She taught sewing in the 4-H Club. She was gifted and loved to quilt, crochet and knit. She enjoyed a good game of cards.
Lois was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, but spent many Sundays at her husband's home church, Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three children, Judy (Bob) Holland, Marvin "Chuck" (Melissa) Wessell and Cathy Ulrich; four granddaughters, Aleena Wessell, Lydia (Dave) Ingram, Cyndi (Rick) Blalock and Chrissy Ulrich; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Blalock; and a brother, Howard (Joan) Busche.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Lester (Dorothy) Busche.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
