OLATHE, Kan. -- Lois Joan Hahs, 83, of Olathe, formerly of Cape Girardeau, went to heaven to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015.

She was born Aug. 11, 1932, the third of five daughters to Louis and Elda Kaufmann. She married Dayton Hahs on Aug. 6, 1949, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Buddy (Debbie) and Dale (Connie) Hahs of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Hahs, Emily (Kevin) Waters of Overland Park, Adam and Quinn Hahs of Overland Park and Noah Hahs of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Avery, Lincoln, Henry and Everett Waters; and two sisters, Karen (Buckie) Ervin and Bobbie Pierce of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by sisters Marie Hinkle and Roslyn (Hilly) Vavak.

Lois loved to be outside, especially if she was playing golf. Other joys included playing cards and growing flowers. She lived life every day, full of energy and a true joy of family and friends. Her broad smile and contagious laugh was an inspiration to many.

Lois had a strong faith in God that allowed her to have an unfailing positive attitude. Her motherly instincts extended to everyone she came into contact with, as her focus was to make everyone comfortable and bring joy to their heart and a smile to their face.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be given to Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
