Lois Annette Cloyd, 96, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Charleston, Illinois, and Staunton, Illinois, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau.

Lois was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Ollin and Opal Goehegan Drennan.

She and Marshall Cloyd were married May 26, 1946, in Kirksville.

She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in 1945 with a degree in music education. Lois was a choral and band director for many years. She was also a talented pianist and organist.

Survivors include her two daughters, Rebecca (Alan) Schuette of Mattoon, Illinois, and Phoebe (Michael) Church of Jackson; son, Drennan (Judi) Cloyd of Osage Beach, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Sonya) Schuette of Charleston; Kimberly (Jason) Dorey of Oxford, Mississippi; McKinzie (Dave) Likes of Peoria, Illinois; Shelby (Jake) Maas of Quincy, Illinois; Baillie Cloyd of Chicago; Leslie Church Buck of Jackson; Drew (Lindsey) Church of Jackson; and Dane (Kendra) Church of Mattoon; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.

A private service will be held in Charleston at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice.
