SIKESTON -- Lois Bailey, 95, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 1995, at Clearview Nursing Center.
She was born March 1, 1900, in Pine Village, Ind., daughter of Joseph H. and Addie H. McCord. She and Roger A. Bailey were married in 1925. He died Oct. 19, 1964.
Bailey attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and the University of Illinois at Champagne/Urbana. She accepted a teaching position with Sikeston Public Schools in 1922.
She was named Woman of the Year and was past member of John Sappington Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Sunday School teacher at First Christian Church 50 years. Bailey served on many committees and boards in Sikeston and Scott County.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Bailey of Oklahoma City, Okla., David Bailey of Sikeston; a daughter, Mary Barnard of Webster Groves; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, with Ed Pangburn officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery.
