THEBES, Ill. -- Lloyd A. Phillips passed away at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, at home on his farm, surrounded by family.
Lloyd was born Oct. 19, 1929, to Sid and Eveline Phillips. Lloyd married Thelma "Sis" Baker on March 2, 1953. They were married for 64 years.
He retired from Saint Francis Medical Center after 30-plus years. Lloyd was an avid fisherman and hunter, who truly loved being outdoors. He loved digging for roots and splitting his own firewood.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma "Sis" Phillips; two grandchildren, Travis (Alicia) Phillips of McClure, Illinois, and Dana Phillips of Metropolis, Illinois; three great-grandsons, Logan Watkins, Kendall King and Easton Phillips; brother, Bob Phillips of Colorado; daughter-in-law, Gail Ryan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Eveline Phillips; his only child, Lloyd "Doc" Phillips; and a brother, James Phillips.
Private graveside service was held Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Lloyd's memory.
Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois, was in charge of arrangements.
