SIKESTON -- Lloyd "Hezzie" Dacus, 66, of 404 Dacus Drive in Sikeston, died Wednesday, June 26, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Portageville, the son of the late James O. and Blanche M. Hall Dacus.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Air Force. He formerly owned Hessie's Furniture Mart in Sikeston and coached and sponsored a Sikeston Little League baseball team.
On Aug. 25, 1946, he married Willa Mae Johnson in Caruthersville. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1988. He also was preceded in death by a brother.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Dacus of the home; two daughters, Melba Wilson and Charlotte Coring, both of Springfield; four brothers, Cletus Dacus of Portageville, Sibert L. Dacus of Sikeston, Gene Dacus of San Jose, Calif. and Glenn Dacus of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Euladean Farmer and Connie Shankle, both of Portageville; and a grandson.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of the Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.
The body will be cremated.
