PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lloyd Don Clifton, 89, of Perryville passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Independence Care Center.
He was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Crosstown, Missouri, to Lloyd and Leola Marie Klobe Clifton. They preceded him in death. He and Virginia Lee Baker were married on July 27, 1978 in Naylor, Missouri. She passed away Oct. 22, 2022.
In the past, he enjoyed traveling extensively with Virginia on their Goldwing motorcycle, fishing regularly with friends and family in the Great Lakes, hunting with Virginia, harvesting numerous deer and turkey, and camping with his grandchildren.
As a young man, he worked various jobs, including Moldenhauer Alfalfa Mill in Menfro, Missouri; Massman Construction on the Mississippi River; delivering milk and eggs for Jewell Razor in St. Louis and Johnny's Poultry Products in Perryville. In 1969, he started at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1990 after 21 years with the company.
He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crosstown.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Schaupert of Perryville; son, Kevin (Karen) Clifton of Perryville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces he loved deeply.
Lloyd was also preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Sherman and Constance V. Booth.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Tyler officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Crosstown.
