ANNA, Ill. -- Lloyd E. Bird, 93, of Anna died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at his home. He was born April 22, 1908, in Goreville, Ill., son of Ira and Myrtle Hoyle Bird. He was first married to Marie Hancock. He later married Myrtle DeWolfe. Both preceded him in death. On Sept. 21, 1989, in Ledbetter, Ky., he married Helen Reed Sullivan...

ANNA, Ill. -- Lloyd E. Bird, 93, of Anna died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at his home.

He was born April 22, 1908, in Goreville, Ill., son of Ira and Myrtle Hoyle Bird. He was first married to Marie Hancock. He later married Myrtle DeWolfe. Both preceded him in death. On Sept. 21, 1989, in Ledbetter, Ky., he married Helen Reed Sullivan.

Bird was a lifelong resident and farmer in Union County. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Earl Bird of Goreville, Donald Bird of Elgin, Ill.; two daughters, Ruth Karraker of Dongola, Ill., Betty Bishop of Carbondale, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters, three brothers, a stepson, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Neal Hampton and the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be in McGinnis Cemetery east of Anna.
