JACKSON -- Lindell "Pete" Harper, 77, Jackson Route 4, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1993, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1915, at Huzzah, son of John and Eura Halbert Harper. He and Sadie Craft were married Jan. 11, 1943.

Harper was employed by Hobart Restaurant Equipment in St. Louis a number of years, and had been a member of the Teamsters Union there. The family moved to Jackson Route 4 in 1949 from St. Louis. He had farmed and also worked at the former Davis Electric in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1977. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Allen, Jackson Route 4; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Morgan of Cahokia, Ill.; a sister, Venetta Matchell of Grandview; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and stepson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
