Linda L. Hines, 60, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born April 10, 1942, at Ardeola, Mo., daughter of Elmer Clifton and Marie Grahm Watkins. She and John W. Hines were married Feb. 11, 1969, in Cairo, Ill. He died May 6, 1995...

Linda L. Hines, 60, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born April 10, 1942, at Ardeola, Mo., daughter of Elmer Clifton and Marie Grahm Watkins. She and John W. Hines were married Feb. 11, 1969, in Cairo, Ill. He died May 6, 1995.

Linda was employed by Southwestern Bell 24 years. She was a member of Hooe Baptist Church in Oran, Mo., CWA Telephone Union, and Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include her mother, Marie Watkins of Morley, Mo.; a son, James Hines of Napa, Calif.; two daughters, Mary May of Ridgeland, Miss., Debbie Shaw of Vanduser, Mo.; a stepson, Ron Hines of Brighton, Ill.; four stepdaughters, Brenda Pierson of Murphysboro, Ill., Judy Mezo of Godfrey, Ill., Paula Kwas and Gina Courtaway of East Alton, Ill.; five brothers, David Watkins of Morley, Bill Watkins of Pacific, Mo., Junior, Dan and Jim Watkins, all of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Ann Holman of Vanduser; eight grandchildren, Amanda Hines, Bradley James Hines, John Lovelady, Anthony Lovelady, Crystal Hines, Justin Blackburn, Aaron Blackburn and Abigail May; four great-grandchildren, including Kaylin Ulrich.

She was preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Betty Sue Jenkins.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor John "J.D." McClard Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
