POCAHONTAS, Ill. -- Linda K. Bruce, 66, of Pocahontas, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, Illinois.

She was born Jan. 9, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Chester and Selma McClard Grelach Winder. On Jan. 10, 1971, she married David I. Bruce at Jackson. He passed away March 26, 2008.

Linda attended Cape Girardeau schools. After her marriage, her husband joined the U.S. Air Force. They lived all over the world, following his career. They had been stationed in Oklahoma, Crete, Greece, South Carolina, Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Turkey and Idaho. He retired in 1990, and they moved home to Jackson. After her husband died, she moved to Pocahontas, Illinois. She had worked as a certified nursing assistant and loved going to yard sales, antiquing and thrift stores. She also collected Indian artifacts and loved taking long drives on country roads.

Survivors include two sons, David S. (Amy) Bruce of Jackson and Christopher L. Bruce of Pocahontas, Illinois; grandchildren, Truett C. Bruce of Jackson and Brody C.R. Bruce of Pocahontas, Illinois; and sister, Brenda (Carl) Davis of Orofino, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Winder; mother, Selma A. Winder-McClard; and husband, Master Sgt. David I. Bruce USAF (Ret).

Graveside funeral service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
