LILLIE VAN MATRE

MARBLE HILL -- Lillie Mae Van Matre, 94, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Elder Care in Marble Hill.

She was born May 5, 1905, at Gipsy, daughter of Andrew and Minnie Lou Gilliland Jackson. She and Noah Van Matre were married Dec. 2, 1923. He died May 28, 1981.

Van Matre was a member of Marble Hill First Baptist Church and Bollinger County Historical Society.

Survivors include a son, Clint Van Matre of Marble Hill; four daughters, Freeda Huskey and Shirley Bollinger of Marble Hill, Ruth Hinkle of Cape Girardeau, Kay Smith of Wetumpka, Ala.; a brother, Odes Jackson of Gipsy; a sister, Mildred Lemons of Madison, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Sam Smith, a grandson, and the Rev. Fred Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery.
