Lillian N. Schneider, 86, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2021.

She was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Shawneetown to Edwin and Frieda Wachter Schneider.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. She later transferred her membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and remained an active member until her passing.

Lillian attended elementary school in Shawneetown and was a graduate of Jackson High School. She earned college credit hours and was then employed many years as a legal secretary for attorneys: Fry, Vogel, Layton and Lewis.

Lillian was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson, where she received recognition for numerous achievements. She was also an accomplished bowler and participated in the ladies bowling league at Jackson Lanes. Lillian was an enthusiast of all Jackson sports, especially football, and she was a devoted Cardinals baseball fan. When she wasn't busy with sports, she enjoyed traveling.

Her surviving family includes first cousins and their families: Norman (the late Hermine) Wachter of Jackson, and daughter Christy (Tony) Pogue; Edward Wachter of Altenburg, Missouri; Allen (Annamae) Wachter of Jackson, and children Jeff Wachter, Jenny (Terry) Byrd, Jerome (Renee) Wachter and Jeremy (Deborah) Wachter; Raymond (Dee Dee) Wachter of Huron, South Dakota, and children Michele (Doug) Monson and Erica Wachter; Charlotte Wachter of Altenburg; and Betty (the late Ruben) Wachter of Altenburg, and sons Rodney (Barb) Wachter and Ricky Wachter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lucille Schneider; and a cousin, Ruben Wachter.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family appreciates memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
