PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lillian Ellen Cleary, 83, of Perryville died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Perry County, daughter of Herman C. and Berniece Zahner Kiefer. She and Herman Schumer Sr. were married. He died in April 1961. She and John Cleary were married July 21, 1962, and he survives...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lillian Ellen Cleary, 83, of Perryville died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Perry County, daughter of Herman C. and Berniece Zahner Kiefer. She and Herman Schumer Sr. were married. He died in April 1961. She and John Cleary were married July 21, 1962, and he survives.

Cleary had been a cook at Prince Gardner. Cleary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary, Mo., and a member of the CMA of St. Mary.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Dennis Schumer, Edward Schumer, Lawrence Schumer, all of Perryville, Leonard Schumer of St. Mary; two daughters, Mary Richardson of Perryville, Barbara Johnson of St. Mary; five stepchildren, Evelyn Sauer, Leona Richardet, Zelma Huber, all of Perryville, Edna Biri of Doe Run, Mo., Francis McCullough of Fairview Heights, Ill.; two brothers, Everett Kiefer and Herman Kiefer, both of Perryville; two sisters, Eileen Kadavi of Perryville and Evelyn Swan of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville; parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Visitation continues from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rosary will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary, with the Rev. Richard Kasznel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Perryville.
