Lillian Jane Burgfeld, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1914, at Christopher, Ill., daughter of LeeRoy and Minnie G. Brown. She and Gilbert L. Burgfeld were married Sept. 27, 1945, at Blackstone, Va. He died July 27, 1977.
Burgfeld served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, and as a nurse in the Korean War, receiving the rank of sergeant. Burgfeld was a member of VFW Post 3838 and the American Legion Post 63. She worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital as an EKG technician and at Florsheim Shoe Factory as an inspector. Later she worked at Wille's Bakery. Burgfeld was a member of Maple United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael L. Burgfeld and Joseph G. Burgfeld, both of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 3838.
