Lester Clyde Jones, 76, of Gordonville, formerly of Houston, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 6, 1940, in Seventy-six, Missouri, the son of Arnold and Eva Logsdon Jones. He married Patricia Whitener, who passed away Aug. 2, 2013.
Lester attended Oak Ridge High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
He moved to Houston, where he owned and operated LP Construction Co.
Lester loved to do custom woodworking and go mushroom hunting. He was loved and admired by all who came to know him.
Loving survivors include three sisters, Reta Lundstrom and Marcella Bryam of Perryville, Missouri, and Yvonne Carrigan of Chipley, Florida; a brother, Bob Jones of Magnolia, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Jones and Eva Rhyne; and four brothers, Cecil and Leroy Jones and Harley and Orville Rhyne.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with pastor Dennis Cebulak officiating. Inurnment will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Perry County.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shiloh Cemetery.
