ORAN, Mo. -- Lester G. Glastetter, 93, of Oran passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Oran to the late Frank and Clara Amrhein Glastetter. He married Violet Hooker on July 26, 1941, and she preceded him in death April 22, 2012.

Lester was a sergeant in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a truck driver for Scott County Milling Co. in Oran until 1962. He then retired as a truck driver from Cape Ready Mix.

He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, St. Joseph Sodality, Knights of Columbus Council No. 4311 in Oran and was a charter member and trustee of the Morley VFW Post No. 5368.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard (Linda) Glastetter and Larry (Patty) Glastetter, both of Oran; one daughter, Janet (Richard) Randolph of Oran; four grandchildren, Brent (Laura) Glastetter of Mooresville, N.C., Melissa (Burl) Turner of Dexter, Mo., Lesley (Justin) Rone of Portageville, Mo., and Travis Randolph of Clayton, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Austin and Ryan Turner of Dexter and Jack Rone of Portageville; two brothers, Gilbert Glastetter of Montgomery, Texas, and Ernest Glastetter of Oran; three sisters, Evelyn Hooker of O'Fallon, Mo., Maxine Whelan of Hazelwood, Mo., and Virginia Uptain of Weatherford, Texas.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. A parish rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by KC Prayers.

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant and the Rev. John Harth as co-celebrant.

Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery, with full military honors presented by Missouri Honor Guard and Morley V.F.W.
