OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Leslie E. Warren, 84, of Grand Chain, Ill., formerly of Olive Branch, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 12, 1916, in Alexander County, Ill., son of James and Gertrude Story Warren. He and Vergie Johnson were married Dec. 20, 1941.
He was a member and deacon of Alexander Free Will Baptist Church, was a retired barber and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Joyce Phillips of Paducah, Ky., and Glenda Harp of Grand Chain; a brother, Ralph Warren of South Roxana, Ill.; four sisters, Thelma Buster of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., Lois Draper of Edwardsville, Ill., Daisy McKee of South Roxana and Vertie Abercrombie of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
