Leslie L. Lindy, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 29, 1926, at Hayti, Mo., son of Charles Jacob and Ruby Mizzell Lindy. He and Wanda Barnes were married June 30, 1947, in West Frankfort, Ill.

Mr. Lindy had been a salesman and route supervisor for Chesty Foods Inc. (potato chip company), Old Judge Coffee and General Grocers. He owned and operated Lindy Line Restaurant and train museum, and owned and operated L. Lindy Sales Co. selling wholesale cigars.

He was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church, Capaha Antique Car Club, Train Collectors Association and Corvair Society of America.

Mr. Lindy served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Les (Helen) Lindy Jr. of Gordonville; a daughter, Linda Lou (Jerry) Suedekum of Jackson; three brothers, Daniel and Fred Lindy of Chaffee, Mo., Larry Lindy of Saraland, Ala.; three grandchildren, Sara and Sylvia Lindy of Gordonville, and Meredith Musgraves of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles J. Lindy Jr., and a grandson, Marcus David Musgraves.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wesley Wright officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.
