ANNA, Ill. -- Leroy "Pete" North, 82, of Anna died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1914, in Anna, son of LeRoy and Cora Bulliner North.

He married Mildred Tompkins on Sept. 17, 1938.

North was a jeweler and certified master watchmaker. He and his wife owned and operated North's Jewelry Store in Anna for 37 years. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church, the Anna Masonic Lodge 520 AF & AM and Anna Star Chapter 522 OES. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

Survivors include his wife and a brother, Joe North of Cobden.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery, with military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday morning until the time of service.
