JONESBORO, Ill. -- Leroy Charles Mowery, 77, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital.

He was born March 31, 1928, in Jonesboro, son of Glenn A. and Beulah Lingle Mowery. He and Elois Mowery were married March 12, 1949, in Pickett, Ark.

Mowery was a foreman with E.T.Simons Construction more than 30 years. He also farmed. He was a member of Mill Creek Lutheran Church and Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Mowery of Jonesboro, Glenn Mowery of Morris, Ill.; a daughter, Karen Biggs of Dallas, Texas; his mother of Vienna, Ill.; a brother, Wayman Mowery of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Glenna Watkins and Pauline Musgrave of Anna; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 3455.
