JACKSON -- Leona E. Ponder, 89, of Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 8, 1908, at Frohna, daughter of Henry and Alma Koenig Mangels. She and Marion L. Ponder were married June 1, 1946. He died April 5, 1988...

JACKSON -- Leona E. Ponder, 89, of Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 8, 1908, at Frohna, daughter of Henry and Alma Koenig Mangels. She and Marion L. Ponder were married June 1, 1946. He died April 5, 1988.

Ponder retired from Wagner Electric in St. Louis. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister, Mabel Aufdenberg of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Church, with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
