Leona Pillars

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Leona R. Pillars, 75, of Perryville died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at her home.

She was born Feb. 3, 1928, at New Wells, Mo., daughter of Charles Erwin and Hilda Rozena Bodenschatz Hoffman. She and Charles A. Pillars were married March 25, 1944.

Pillars retired as a custodian at Perryville Packing. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Crosstown, Mo.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jerry Rucker of Chester, Ill., Gloria Pillars and Carol Grantham of Perryville; two brothers, Edwin Hoffman of O'Fallon, Mo., Leo Hoffman of Wentzville, Mo.; a sister, Lydia Nobus of Granite City, Ill.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Cox officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
