Leona Hitt, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Mrs. Hitt was born Dec. 5, 1910, at Perkins, Mo. She was of the Catholic belief and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hitt enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and sewing.
Survivors include a son, Joseph J. Rouse and wife Martha Sue of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Michael Joseph Rouse, of New York, Cindy Ponder of Birmingham, Ala.; and two great-grandchildren, Brennan Ponder and Katie Ponder of Birmingham.
Mrs. Hitt was preceded in death by husband Joseph Rouse in 1955, and later by husband Cecil Hitt in 1997; her parents, John and Ida Agnes Ollar Steele; four sisters and two brothers.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating.
