Leon Otto Schlosser, 87 of Scott City died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Kelso, Missouri, to Emil and Lena Martin Schlosser.

He and Ruth Ostendorf were married Jan. 5, 1957, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.

Leon served in the Korean War from December 1953 to December 1955. He retired as a truck driver in 1995.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.

He enjoyed fishing, restoring and driving antique tractors, and really enjoyed the antique tractor rides. In the winter he enjoyed working puzzles and framing them. He also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of American Legion Post 3838.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Schlosser; four daughters, Diane (Wally) Dykas, Debra (Kevin) Murphy, Donna (Greg) Highley and Denise (Cary) Riley; 11 grandchildren, Nathan Dykas, Jana Gumley, Jaris Wagner, Bill and John Murphy, Laura Ryan, Robert and Ryan Highley, Ashley Winder, Lagan and Tory Riley; and six great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. the Mark Binder officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
