SCOTT CITY -- Edward Leon Riley, 58, of Scott City and formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Clarksville, Ark., to James Oliver and Theora Ann Ritchie Riley. On Nov. 25, 1967, at Canalou, he married Genetta M. Farmer Blankinship, who died March 8, 1997...

SCOTT CITY -- Edward Leon Riley, 58, of Scott City and formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Clarksville, Ark., to James Oliver and Theora Ann Ritchie Riley.

On Nov. 25, 1967, at Canalou, he married Genetta M. Farmer Blankinship, who died March 8, 1997.

He was raised in Canalou and lived in Sikeston for 10 years before moving to Scott City in 1977. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cape Girardeau.

He had worked as a dispatcher and truck driver for the Sam Tanksley Trucking Co. in Cape Girardeau for 18 years.

Survivors include a son, Senior Master Sgt. Ronnie D. Blankinship of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.; a daughter, Cathy J. Blankinship of Sikeston; four brothers, Calvin J. Riley of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth Riley of Sikeston, and Carvin and Maxie Don Riley, both of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Services are Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Lee Whitman officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
