CHARLESTON -- Leon D. Morris, 68, of Charleston, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1992 at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1923 in Chicago, son of Orland and Laura Earley Morris. He moved to Missouri in 1967. He was a retired correctional officer for the state of Illinois, and was an Army veteran of WWII...

CHARLESTON -- Leon D. Morris, 68, of Charleston, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1992 at his home.

He was born Dec. 26, 1923 in Chicago, son of Orland and Laura Earley Morris. He moved to Missouri in 1967.

He was a retired correctional officer for the state of Illinois, and was an Army veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Morris, of the home; two sons, Michael Morris and Leon D. Morris Jr., both of Cairo, Ill.; daughter, Sandra Clemons of Dongola, Ill.; stepmother, Nellie Morris of Mound City; sisters, Laura Tucker of Cairo, and Wanda Smith, of Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers, LeRoy Morris of Mounds, Ill., Lee Arthur Morris, of Oklahoma City, Franklin Morris of New York and Wilbur Morris of Charleston; a foster brother, Eddie Randle of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Sparks Funeral Home with elder Steve Betts officiating. Burial will be in the Mound City, Ill. National Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
