Leo Frank Wulfers, 83, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, son of Otto J. and Leona T. Haas Wulfers. He and Lawana Lee Foreman were married in 1948. She died Nov. 25, 2004.
Mr. Wulfers entered the U.S. Army Sept. 28, 1942, and trained as an air mechanic at Shepard Field, Texas. During World War II he served in North Africa, and was discharged Dec. 25, 1945.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Wulfers of Cape Girardeau, Anita "Nickie" wife of the late Bill Williams of Cape Girardeau, Ann Marie "Teen" and husband John Evans of Sullivan, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Joe and wife Mary Lee Davis of Cape Girardeau; a son, David Wulfers and daughter-in-law, Mary C. Wulfers of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandsons, Tristan Wulfers, Ian Wulfers and Calum Wulfers; a granddaughter, Micah Wulfers of Tulsa; nieces and husbands, Mary Ann and Jim Travis of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ann and Gordon Brookman of Cape Girardeau, Jane and Dennis Shrewsbury of St. Louis, Laura Rose and Jeff Beltz of Jackson; nephews and wives, J. George and Teresa Davis of Cape Girardeau, Mark Evans of Sullivan, Matthew and Rhonda Davis of Memphis, Tenn., Tim and Daniel Davis of Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
Deepest appreciation is expressed to the staff of the Lutheran Home.
