GORDONVILLE -- Funeral service for Leo Roy Skelton of Caruthersville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. Pastor D. Lee Cullen and the Rev. Richard Rickus will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Skelton, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 6, 1928, at Gordonville, son of Joe Harold and Pearl Mae Brunner Skelton. He and Juanita Wilson were married Jan. 24, 1953.
Skelton was a telephone lineman. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blytheville, Ark., Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, and National Rifle Association.
He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 88 in Caruthersville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Mark Skelton of Los Angeles, Calif.; three daughters, Stacey Stephens of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leslie Gestring of Caruthersville, Tammy Abbott of Jackson; a brother, Charles Skelton of Gordonville; a sister, Evelyn Dake of Jackson; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
