CHAFFEE -- Leo Albert Schmitt, 79, Chaffee Route 1, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born Oct. 25, 1912, at New Hamburg, son of Ludonis Frank and Anna Mary Weber Schmitt. Schmitt was a janitor at St. Ambrose Catholic Church from 1954-75. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, its Men's Club, and Chaffee American Legion Post 389. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

CHAFFEE -- Leo Albert Schmitt, 79, Chaffee Route 1, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1992, at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson.

He was born Oct. 25, 1912, at New Hamburg, son of Ludonis Frank and Anna Mary Weber Schmitt.

Schmitt was a janitor at St. Ambrose Catholic Church from 1954-75. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, its Men's Club, and Chaffee American Legion Post 389. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sisters, Alvina Scheeter of Chaffee, Louise Hess, Chaffee Route 2; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Ambrose Church. The Rev. Allan Saunders will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Home at Chaffee was in charge of arrangements.
