SIKESTON -- Leo R. Adams, 78, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at his home. He was born Sept. 19, 1920, at Malden, son of William Henry and Mary Angela Huffman Adams. He and Lillie Mae Flynn were married Nov. 15, 1945, in Brownwood, Texas. Adams had been a driver with City Cab Co. He was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church...

SIKESTON -- Leo R. Adams, 78, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at his home.

He was born Sept. 19, 1920, at Malden, son of William Henry and Mary Angela Huffman Adams. He and Lillie Mae Flynn were married Nov. 15, 1945, in Brownwood, Texas.

Adams had been a driver with City Cab Co. He was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received a Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, and two overseas bars.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn Furr of Kannapolis, N.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Revs. Matthew Butrum and Marvin Butrum officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
