NEW HAMBURG -- Leo A. "Bud" Steger, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at his home.

He was born Sept. 24, 1912, at Chaffee to Theodore Steger and Effie Stevens.

On Oct. 26, 1933 at Red Bud, Ill., he married Vera Louise Steger, who died Dec. 16, 1991.

He was a superintendent at Davis Electric in Cape Girardeau and also farmed in the New Hamburg area. He served in the U.S. Army of World War II.

He was a member of H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 in Cape Girardeau, Moolah Temple in St. Louis and the American Legion. He was a past master of Illmo White Shrine of Jerusalem in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Steger, Shelby "Skip" Steger and Shannon Steger, all of New Hamburg; and one daughter, Sharon Raines of Scott City; one sister, Sue Brown of Merced, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Visitation begins today at 5 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scot City with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
