Lena May Schweain, 95, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Dexter, Missouri, to Albert Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Deardorff Smith. Lena and Clarence Riley Schweain were married Nov. 27, 1944, in Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of Jackson Church of Christ.
Lena loved fishing with her husband. She was an avid bowler, a master at cross stitching and loved playing cards and games. She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with friends.
Survivors include a son, Clarence Ray (Jean) Schweain of Jackson; two daughters, Reita Faye Conley and Peggy Ann Crawford, both of Jackson; brother, Charles Albert Smith of Dexter; two sisters, Altha Hawley-Corlew of Springfield, Missouri, and Mary Ellen Stuart of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, Kathie (Brian) Zank, Kristi (Jeff) Thurman, Eric (Sara) Schweain, Ryan (Kristin) Schweain, Guy (Shelia) Conley, April (Eric) Harris, Penny (Allen) Smith, Doug Ford, Dwayne Ford, Craig (Amy) Crawford and Chris (Kelly) Crawford; 27 great-grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Mia, Erin, Isaac, Cole, Riley, Tanner, Kara, Stella, Callum, Elliott, Jennifer, Justin, Cody, Amber, Tyler, Kyle, Paige, T.J., Madilyn, Hannah, Matthew, Cameron, Kadence, Kierra and Justin; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, James Daniel and Floyd Joe Smith; and three sisters, Gertie Irene Cross, Pearl Cleo Parham and Opal Faye Crites.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 30, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will follow at noon Friday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Jackson Church of Christ, American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
