SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Lena Maude Lewis of O'Fallon, Ill., formerly of Sikeston, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lee Fansler will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Lewis, 79, died Wednesday, July 31, 1996, at O'Fallon Health Care Center.
She was born May 27, 1917, in Fremont, daughter of James Franklin and Nancy Elizabeth Brandon Washburn. She and George Albert Lewis were married in October 1933. He died March 17, 1973.
Lewis was a seamstress in the laundry department at Missouri Delta Medical Center 17 years. She was a foster grandparent at New Dawn State School five years.
Survivors include three sons, James Lewis of Sikeston, Dale Lewis of Winter Haven, Fla., Danny Lewis of Webster Groves; five daughters, Betty Crossno of O'Fallon, Ill., Bert Luehder of Belleville, Ill., Jewell Crossno of Winter Haven, Brenda Cypert and Teresa Ballus of Sikeston; a brother, Raymond Washburn of Hanford, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren, and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, six brothers, a sister, and a great-grandson.
