Lemro Frederick Hale, 80, 2209 Brookwood, died Sunday, March 10, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1915, at Ironton, son of Elza and Nellie Spitzmiller Hale. He and Theresa Axtetter were married March 1, 1938, in Festus.
Hale was a jeweler in St. Louis and Belleville, Ill., owned a jewelry store in Bonne Terre 10 years, and in 1954 bought the Vic Clemens Jewelry Store on Main Street in Cape Girardeau. He retired 12 years later and a son, Joe, has operated Hale's Fine Jewelry since then.
He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, VFW Post 3838, honorary life member of American Legion, was a 4th Degree with Knights of Columbus, and was a past grand knight of Bonne Terre Knights of Columbus. He served with the U.S. Navy in Guam during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald, Joe and Larry Hale of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Jeannie Poe of Cape Girardeau, Mary Hardy of Goldvein, Va.; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7 and KC rosary at 7:30.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Jay Gibson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
