CHARLESTON -- Lela Harton Walters, 87, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, July 7, 1994, at Aksarben Nursing Center in Omaha.
She was born April 27, 1907, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Vollie and Mine Walker Jones.
Walters was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in the Henson community, and served on the Mother's Board.
Survivors include three daughters, Twila Chisem and Doretha Visor of Charleston, Maxcine Smith of Omaha; two sons, Alfonso Harton of Sikeston, Wilburt Harton of Bellwood, Ill.; a brother, Lester Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Callie Stampley of Charleston, Roberta Hinton of Chicago, Inez Ramsey of Cleveland, Ohio; 37 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. T.R. Tyus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
