BELL CITY, Mo. -- Lefern Long, 84, of Bell City died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 23, 1923, at Bell City, daughter of Josh and Bertha Mayberry Kneezle. She and Shelby Long were married July 31, 1940. He died June 29, 2001...

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Lefern Long, 84, of Bell City died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 23, 1923, at Bell City, daughter of Josh and Bertha Mayberry Kneezle. She and Shelby Long were married July 31, 1940. He died June 29, 2001.

Long was a member of Bell City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Spencer Long of Springfield, Mo., Dennis Long of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Janet Rials of Palestine, Texas; two sisters, Barbara Lewis of Sikeston, Mo., Inis Stamper of Bell City; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Bell City.
