MORLEY, Mo. -- Leeroy "Butch" Abernathy, 89, of Morley passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 23, 1928, in Scott County, Missouri, to the late Henry William and Levadie Mae Hoxworth Abernathy. He and Betty Ruth Oliver married March 7, 1949, and she preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1992.
Leeroy was a retired spreader for Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee, Missouri. He attended First Baptist Church of Morley.
He is survived by two sons, Winfer Ray (Margaret) Abernathy of Junction City, Kansas, and Billy Lynn Abernathy of Morley; two daughters, Wanda (Jim) Lovel and Christy Sue Whorton, both of Morley; a brother, Bobbie Eugene Abernathy of Morley; a sister, Violet Mozelle Farmer of Oran, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brother and seven sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Morley, with Brother David Thompson officiating. Burial will be at New Morley Cemetery in Morley.
