ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lee Roy Johnson, 95, of Advance passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 20, 1916, at Collinsville, Okla., son of W.J. and Bertha Mae Edwards Johnson.
Lee Roy was a machinist 32 years and was a member of Local 231 UAW. He was a Christian man, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He and Opal Allen were united 74 years. They were married Sept. 25, 1937, at Bell City, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel Johnson of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Elvis Johnson of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, LaVerne Johnson of Advance; two sisters; Edith Mills of St. Ann, Mo., and Thelma Miller of St. Charles; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Manuel Johnson; six brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today until time of service at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the chapel, with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
