SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lea Edwards, 96, of Sikeston died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 27, 1904, near Sikeston, daughter of William and Hulda Bean Watkins. She and John Owen Edwards were married Oct. 16, 1923. He preceded her in death.
Edwards attended Sikeston Public Schools and studied at the Chicago Art Institute. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Sikeston Art League, and entered and was recognized at many shows and exhibits in the region.
She had lived at Chateau Girardeau seven years.
Survivors include a son, Jack Edwards of Campbell, Mo.; a sister, Imogene Davis of Beaufort, S.C.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, a brother and an infant sister.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ruth Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
