Lawrence "Larry" Newell, 79, of Jackson died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born in Fairmont, W.Va., son of James T. and Ida Micheals Newell. He and Susie Donelson were married April 8, 1944.
Newell worked 44 years at Marquette and Lonestar Cement.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James and Randy Newell of Jackson; a daughter, Sue Long of Jackson; a brother, James Newell of Hillsboro, Ohio; four grandsons; and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at Buena Vista Funeral Home in Nashville, Tenn., from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Maurice Partain officiating. Burial will be in Joelton Cemetery in Joelton, Tenn.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson was in charge of local arrangements.
