SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lavine Carter, 91, of Murray, Ky., died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at West View Nursing Home in Murray.
She was born June 16, 1911, in Sikeston, daughter of Lige N. and Eliza Ann Mandrell Inman. She and Elden Lynear Carter were married Nov. 8, 1930. He died April 9, 1982.
Carter lived in Sikeston most of her life, where she worked in the office at International Shoe Co. many years, retiring in 1973. She later moved to Murray and was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include three nephews, Dick and Gerald Inman of Sikeston, Bill Matthews of Sullivan, Mo.; three nieces, Betty Council of Monroe, Wash., Judy Parker of Aztec, N.M., and Emma Donnan of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, with the Rev. Todd Buck officiating.
