PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lavern I. Emmendorfer, 77, of Perryville died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1923, in St. Louis, daughter of Amiel Lawrence and Sarah Edith Bass Colin. She first married Thomas Ferdinand Abernathy in 1942. She later married Franklin G. Emmendorfer Jan. 15, 1965. Both preceded her in death.
Emmendorfer was a seamstress at Prince Gardner. She was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Abernathy of Jefferson, Texas, Robert and Danny Abernathy of Perryville; two daughters, Judy Hawkins of Troy, Ill., Joyce Mehrer of Chester, Ill.; two sisters, Delores Schirmer of St. Louis, Lenita Grindstaff of Englewood, Colo.; a friend, Russell Nelson of Steeleville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son, six brothers, two sisters, and three stepbrothers.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until service time.
