ANNA, Ill. -- Lavada Ruth Henderson, 78, of Anna died Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
She was born March 6, 1931, in Union County, daughter of Everett Brady and Martha Jane Smith Caraker. She and Jewel "Red" Henderson were married Sept. 27, 1947. He died Aug. 21, 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Sadler of Dongola, Ill., Cheryl Jaymes of Wamego, Kan.; a son, Terry Henderson of Cobden, Ill.; a sister, Helen Garner of Anna; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Henderson was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a business manager for Choate Mental Health Center, retiring in 1991 after 26 years of service.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
