Funeral service for Laura Asalea Wise of Castro Valley, Calif., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Donald Wise will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday.
Wise, 82, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at Quail Ridge Convalescent Home in San Leandro, Calif.
She was born May 10, 1915, in Missouri, daughter of Adam and Nellie McMillian Nickless. She married Fred Wise in 1936. He died in 1949.
Wise formerly owned and operated a dress shop in Scott City. She was a member of the Church of God in Missouri. She moved to Castro Valley in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Donald Wise of Castro Valley; three brothers, Floyd Nickless of Pacifica, Calif., Donald Nickless of Boonville, Ind., Glen Nickless of Arnold; a sister, Lucille Vinning of Cottonwood, Calif.; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
