Laura F. Nagel, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at her home.
She was born May 26, 1925, in Tilsit, daughter of Alvin M. and Amanda A. Lange Birk. She and Ervin W. Nagel were married Feb. 1, 1948.
Laura was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She volunteered in the church office on Fridays and worked at Southeast Hospital in medical records and at Kmart in Cape Girardeau. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting, baking cookies and playing with her great-grandchildren.
Loving survivors include a son, Blane (Carolyn) Nagel of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Shauna (Wes) Welch of Farmington, Mo., and Amanda (Harry) Litsey of Osage Beach, Mo.; a brother, Nelson (Mary) Birk of Fredericktown, Mo.; two sisters, Hulda Sievers and Vera Allen of Jackson; five grandchildren, Wade (Debbie) Welch, Darren (fiancee Christy) Welch and Stacey, Justin and Kelsey Nagel; and three great-grandchildren, Abby, Tanner and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Gerhard and Alfred Birk; three sisters, Vanita Spooler, Elverda Allen and Alma Mouser Aufdenberg.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or Southeast Hospice.
