JACKSON -- Laura S. Lewis, 84, of Jackson died Tuesday, April 2, 1997, at Heritage Care Center.
She was born Sept. 1, 1912, in Jackson, daughter of Joe and Mary Hunter Schmuke. She married Wilson H. Lewis Oct. 20, 1945.
Lewis had been a bookkeeper at Jackson Oil Co. and Lewis Mobil Service, owned a gift shop, was co-owner of Jackson Decorating Center, and bookkeeper at Lutesville Pallet Co.
She was a member of Kimbeland Ladies Association, and had been secretary and treasurer of Kimbeland Country Club.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joe and Bill Birk of Jackson; two stepsons, Ed Lewis of Jackson, Jim Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters, Mary Schmuke and Agnes O'Loughlin of Jackson, Betty Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Joan Hill of Rosewell, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
